International Seafood Company
Post-Acquisition Information Technology Transformation

Situation: One of the best-known names at the grocery store was purchased from a Fortune 50 company by its management team and private equity investors. During the due diligence preceding the purchase, CentreTEK was selected by this International Seafood Company to assess the Information Technology environment and develop a plan for separating from its parent company. With the successful purchase, the Seafood Company asked CentreTEK to execute this plan and transform the company’s Information Technology systems and infrastructure.

Solution: CentreTEK took on the wholesale task of transforming the company’s entire IT systems and infrastructure from the parent organization to be fully separated and stand-alone in only six months. This effort included selecting and implementing IT solutions for core business functions such as:

  • ERP systems to manage sales and accounting
  • MRP for manufacturing and distribution
  • EDI systems to facilitate orders, invoicing, and payment
  • Forms software to automate generation and distribution of key records
  • Imaging software for cost-effective, integrated records retention and retrieval

In addition to the dramatic transformation of the systems, CentreTEK led the design, selection, and implementation of a new IT infrastructure including standardization of servers, firewalls, and VPNs, while improving information systems security and improving performance. CentreTEK worked diligently to negotiate and procure hardware, software, and services with consistently favorable terms for the Seafood Company.

Results: Despite the highly complex project and extremely aggressive schedule, CentreTEK successfully established the new infrastructure within six months and implemented the ERP and complementary systems only eight months after starting. CentreTEK was able to negotiate over considerable savings for hardware, software, and services and produce a significant increase in network and systems performance.
